Significance

The branch is named for the Schlessman family, one of Denver’s leading philanthropic families. The building’s brick exterior and modern design is a vibrant part of the community. Schlessman is home of the 12-panel installation, “The Lowry Trios” by Stephen Batura. Batura created paintings about the Lowry and Montclair neighborhoods that are based on historical photographs.

Schlessman boasts exciting programming such as Summer of Reading, Chess Club, Book Clubs, Memory Cafe, as well as Plazas Program, which offers support in the form of second-language conversation skills, citizenship, business networking, and more for refugees, asylees, and immigrants.

Neighborhood
Schlessman Family Library is part of the Lowry Neighborhood.
