Significance

The Library opened in April 1996 in honor of Pauline Robinson, who served as Denver’s first African American librarian. Robinson was well known for her 15 years of service in the role of Denver Public Library’s Chief Children’s Librarian.

Neighborhood
Pauline Robinson Library is part of the Park Hill neighborhood, which was originally conceptualized in 1886, when Baron Eugene Von Winkler purchased the land and developed the neighborhood. Park Hill is known for being one of the first neighborhoods in the nation that actively worked to integrate black families into the community during the 1950s. The neighborhood is home to smaller commercial areas as well as large residential and industrial zones.
